"On December 11, 1738, however, an inscription came to light that identified d'Elboeuf's building. The inscription read Theatrum Herculanensi."
Could someone prove this date and the text of inscription?

I got the data from more than one source but would have to dig out my research notes to quote you chapter and verse. If you can provide me with any information concerning the veracity of any of the text, please let me know - I would be happy to update the text, as there is little point in perpetuating erroneous material. Do you find this valuable?
