Following the earthquake of AD62 the villa was redecorated in part in the fourth style. The villa was subsequently acquired at the order of the Imperial Prefect, Tito Suedio Clemente, on behalf of the state. At the same time the terrace of the Temple of Venus above was extended, requiring the demolition of the upper floor of the villa.

The entry at the Marina Gate gives access to a long porticoed ambulatory which leads to the main entrance of the villa. The ambulatory is open on one side overlooking a gardened area. The decoration of the rear wall is in the third style (pictured left).

Facing the entrance is a vestibule followed by a large reception room (A). The ceilings of the vestibule and of the reception room were decorated with stucco caskets and paintings in the fourth style on a black ground. The walls contained 3 large mythological panels including that of the Death of Icarus, pictured below and the Murder of the Minotaur by Theseus.

Off the entrance vestibule is a cubiculum (B), decorated in the third style on a white ground with a raised alcoved area on its east side.

To the south of the reception area is the triclinium (C), which overlooks a peristyled garden (D). The triclinium is decorated in the fourth style with large landscape panels on a red ground while the walls of the peristyle have red panels on a black ground.
