Room with Featured Fresco H. Second Court Description .. From the entrance (A) at No.4 a passage leads directly to a small court (B) with rooms off. The picture below is of the left wall of the court. .. .. .. Opposite the biclinium, a corridor (E) with a mosaic floor leads to two remote rooms which are preceded by a lightwell. In the leftmost of these two rooms (F) is the alcove after which the house was named. In all, there are seven rooms with third and fourth style decoration with mosaic and opus sectile floors in two. Beside the main entrance, a second, raised entrance at No.3 gives access to the second floor. Next to the House of the Mosaic Atrium on Cardo IV is the House of the Alcove. This house is actually two buildings joined together. .. As a consequence of this, the house is a mixture of plain and simple rooms combined with some highly decorated ones. .. .. Continuing along the axis of the entrance corridor (pictured above) is a second and larger court (H) which gives access to a suite of rooms including room (G) which has traces of fine fourth style decoration (pictured below). .. .. From the right hand side of the first court (B), two steps down lead to a third court (C) onto which opens a biclinium (D), with preserved wooden beds and two windows with wooden frames and iron bars still in place. ..
