Description of the House (Reg V, Ins 4, a)
.. In the tablinum can be seen the Triumph of Bacchus and the Marriage of Venus and Mars (pictured above). More general views of the tablinum are shown opposite and below and these give a good impression of the rich and colourful third style decoration. ..
.. In the cubiculum immediately to the right of the tablinum are several notable paintings. The walls are decorated in the fourth style, consisting of a dark red lower frieze topped by a yellow central area with panels including Narcissus at the Spring (pictured right) and Pero nursing his elderly father. ..
.. The garden to the rear consisted of a reasonably sized garden in the northeast corner with a colonnade on its south side. The walls of the garden area are decorated in the fourth style, with African landscapes framed by red borders.
Several rooms opened off the garden, including an exedra in the centre of its southern side. This large room was entered through a wide opening which constituted most of the north wall. The walls were decorated in the fourth style, in a similar manner to the triclinium, with alternating bands of yellow and red containing architectural motifs including the view in the photograph opposite.
On the far east wall was the garden entrance or posticum. | This house lies in an alley off the Via di Nola close to the limits of the currently excavated area.
The house is one of the most interesting and refined of the small domus from the imperial age, with spectacular paintings in the third style. Much of the house is in a good state of preservation.
The entrance opens onto a square atrium complete with central impluvium. The atrium is slightly unusual in that it has only rooms on one side (south). At the rear of the atrium is the tablinum, the walls of which are decorated in the third style, consisting of a black lower frieze with the upper area decorated with panels on alternating black and red grounds. ..
 ..
.. The triclinium is in the southwest corner of the atrium, between a second cubiculum and a small storage area. The walls are decorated in the fourth style, with a black lower frieze and central panels on alternating yellow and red ground above. The panels include scenes from Orestes Slaying Neoptolemus, Theseus and Ariadne and the Toilet of Venus. ..
